German model, photographer and designer Johannes Huebl has long been a source of classic style inspiration to men around the world. He splits his time between Europe and America so he know a thing or two about dressing for all weathers. His work with fashion brands including Ralph Lauren, Brunello Cuccinelli and BOSS means he also knows how to put a great look together.

Last week, he spotted the 'Italian Style' at Pal Zileri SS25 men's fashion show at Blvgari Hotel Milano during Milan Fashion Week 2024, which was a masterclass in how to dress for such an occasion.

*The Italian style is an aesthetic that is characterized by its nonchalance and less rigidity. It is often associated with natural shoulder pad, slim-fit, tassel loafer, and knitted tie.

Huebl, the 46-year-old Alma mater from University of Hamburg, donning head-to-toe Pal Zileri beige linen blazer over a white shirt and white pants, the look was completed with a knitted grey tie, sunglasses, and completed with pocket square. Safe to say, this is 'Italian Style' looks can be worn anywhere in the world (in daytime non-humid condition).

What makes Huebl dressed elegantly? Well, it’s simple. First, it’s about achieving balance and symmetry: a suit is too formal and too corporate, but no jacket isn’t formal enough, so the mismatched blazer and pants look is nonchalance. Second, the colour palette screams minimalist sophistication. Third, the textures: elegant knit tie, luxurious and lightweight jacket fabric, and tassel loafer.

They say you should “dress for the job you want, not the job you have”, but when it comes to attending menswear fashion event (or any creative outdoor day event) the attitude should be reversed: dress for the event you’re actually attending, not the one you wish you were attending.
