Some pairings feel inevitable long before they happen.
Breitling and Aston Martin have finally brought theirs to the wrist with the Top Time B01 Chronograph 41 Tribute to Aston Martin DB5, the first timepiece to emerge from a partnership announced at the start of 2026, and a genuine ode to one of motoring's most enduring icons.
The story begins in 1963, the year the DB5 arrived and instantly became shorthand for British elegance, engineering and cool. Two years later, a Top Time ref. 2002 appeared on Sean Connery's wrist in Thunderball, sitting alongside the very same DB5 on screen, marking the first Q-modified watch in Bond history and a moment when speed and style spoke the same language.
Six decades on, that meeting point returns, reimagined for a new generation of collectors.
Where Craft Meets Craft
Every detail on this chronograph draws a direct line back to the DB5's cabin. A wood-inlayed inner ring recalls the car's steering wheel, hand-colored gradient leather straps echo the depth of fine automotive upholstery, and "squircle" subdials borrow their shape from classic dashboard gauges. The cushion-shaped case, grooved corners and mushroom pushers stay faithful to the silhouette of the original 1960s Top Time, giving the piece a presence that feels both period-accurate and thoroughly current.
Georges Kern, CEO of House of Brands, calls the DB5 a design that stays relevant across generations, and this watch was built to carry that idea forward on the wrist. Marek Reichman, Aston Martin's Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer, describes the collaboration as an exchange of ideas between two houses who share a deep respect for craftsmanship, resulting in a piece he sees as balancing beauty, precision and performance in equal measure. Breitling's Head of Product Design, Pablo Widmer, sums up the philosophy simply: the beauty lies in the lines, the materials and the finishing, much like the car that inspired it.
Three Expressions, One Legacy
The collection arrives in three limited editions, each pitched at a different register of the DB5 story.
The stainless steel version, paired with a silver dial and limited to 1,022 pieces, sits closest in spirit to the original ref. 2002, a natural entry point into the collection for purists. The steel and platinum edition introduces a black lacquered dial and a platinum bezel, limited to 315 pieces, lending the watch extra weight and a striking contrast against its high-gloss face. At the top of the range, an 18k red gold edition with an onyx dial, limited to 250 individually numbered pieces, marks Breitling's first use of the stone on a dial, delivering a depth and luster that feels genuinely rare on the wrist.
Performance to Match the Pedigree
Beneath the dial sits the Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01, a COSC-certified chronograph movement built on column-wheel architecture with a vertical clutch for smooth, precise operation, backed by a 70-hour power reserve. Through the open sapphire-crystal caseback, an Aston Martin-engraved rotor, finished in rhodium plating or 18k red gold depending on the edition, completes the tribute with a flourish reserved for those who look closely.
The Top Time Tribute to Aston Martin DB5 arrives as a study in two forms of mastery meeting on common ground, one shaped by performance and proportion, the other by precision and form. Together, they carry forward a shared language of style that has already proven itself capable of standing the test of time.
