As Malaysia proudly celebrates Merdeka Month, it's fitting to reflect on the nation's journey of growth and innovation. Among the many symbols of progress, few are as iconic as PROTON. Established in 1983, PROTON was born from the ambition to put Malaysia on the global automotive map. The launch of the PROTON Saga in 1985 marked the beginning of a legacy—one that has evolved over decades to embody the spirit of national pride and technological advancement. Nearly six years after its initial release, PROTON’s flagship SUV has received a significant update. Unveiled at the Marriott Hotel, the 2025 PROTON X70 redefines its segment with fresh styling, improved interior features, and upgraded safety technology. Notably, it now supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for the first time.

Since its debut in 2018, the PROTON X70 has been a game-changer in Malaysia’s premium SUV market, with over 100,000 units sold. Its global sibling, the Geely Boyue, has seen similar success with 1.8 million units sold across 49 countries. The 2025 model aims to continue this legacy with advanced features and refined performance.

The exterior updates include a bolder front grille, new trapezoidal headlamps, and a muscular hood design. The interior offers enhanced comfort, including a premium steering wheel and ambient lighting options. A new 12.3-inch floating screen provides seamless control, while the “Hi PROTON” voice command system remains a key feature.

Under the hood, a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine delivers 177PS and 255Nm of torque, paired with a smooth 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Improved fuel efficiency and reduced noise levels ensure a more comfortable drive.

Safety remains a priority with the inclusion of ADAS Level 2 for premium variants, featuring systems like Autonomous Emergency Braking and Lane Centering Control. All models come equipped with comprehensive safety features, including six airbags and hill control systems.

For early buyers, PROTON offers RM23,500 worth of additional benefits, including extended warranties and complimentary services. The 2025 PROTON X70 is now available for booking online and at authorized showrooms.
