The alarming flood situations that Malaysians have witnessed in the past two years are evidence that global warming is a problem that none of us can turn a blind eye to any more.
Sustainability is an issue that Malaysians need to take seriously and without doubt, more than just the bare minimum needs to be done by everyone to help the local NGOs play their part to amplify the message that has been sent out so that it would reach a wider audience.
TURO 2022 is a one-of-a-kind experience that was held on the 4th and 5th of November 2022 from 7 pm to 10 pm at the Chin Woo Stadium, Kuala Lumpur. TURO 2022 is a fun-filled event that saw multiple sustainable founders united for a joyous occasion that brought Malaysians together to breathe new life into the Klang River. Supported by Aglow Clinic, Bright Series Sdn Bhd, Kaimirra Tutan, Hop On Hop Off KL, Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC) - in conjunction with Cuti-Cuti Malaysia.
Merging the gap between the old and new, TURO 2022 aims to create awareness that is much needed about the dire state of the Klang River. Regardless of status, race, and socioeconomic background, TURO 2022 invited everyone to come together to preserve our national heritage and make it a symbolic landmark for the future generation.
Hosted by the fashion-forward enthusiast, EMRI VISION, renowned furniture brand, JOY DESIGN STUDIO and amplified by the professionals from the independent record label, SPACE RECORDS, TURO 2022 has garnered more than thousands of visitors in the span of two days.
Using this as one of the main platforms this year to bring Malaysians together, EMRI VISION presented the brand's latest 2022/2023 sustainable ready-to-wear collection at TURO 2022.
Showcasing the latest trends in the fashion industry, the audience are treated with vast options of outfits that are made from reused and upcycled materials, which can be used on a day-to-day basis as well as glamorous events.
At the same time, the audience will also be mesmerized by the curated set installation and stage design at Chin Woo Stadium. Dressed by the professionals from JOY DESIGN STUDIO, sustainable furniture will be taking over the night and the audience can witness how practical and stylish these pieces are in real life.
Bringing everything together through the night is a special performance by SPACE RECORDS. Reigniting the joy of the good old days using retro tracks that were once upon a time familiar to all of us, guests immersed themselves in a nostalgic night as they witnessed how these songs are presented with a touch of modern bass. One of the highlights is Dua Dua featuring Shaa, the signed artist who who performed the song titled ‘Selflessly’ – which depicts the story of a mother’s sacrifice from a 6-year-old girl’s perspective and the struggle that the duo goes through over the years.
Channeling profits to the development of the Klang River, 5% of the profits from this two-day event will be donated to the Global Environment Centre (GEC). The remaining funds gained through this event will be used by the organizers to work closely with multiple NGOs who advocate the rights of the orang Asli community, small farmers, and pharmaceutical companies to bring positive impact to the current landscape and to be the change that the people in Malaysia need.
