Ahead of lunch, we made our way to the Elite Fitness Centre on the top floor, and the view alone was worth the climb, a wraparound outlook over the Nepean and the rooftops of Penrith that made even a warm up feel like a small reward. Dining
Dinner at Marcel Bar & Bistro on level one set an atmosphere that lingers in memory long after the plates are cleared. Mood lighting, sheer curtains and glass surrounds gave the dining room an intimacy rarely found in hotel restaurants, and as we were escorted to our table, the room seemed to fold quietly around us. Our three course meal arrived under the care of a server whose knowledge of the menu, and the wines paired against each course, elevated the evening into something closer to theatre than a simple dinner service, each pairing introduced with genuine enthusiasm rather than rehearsed script.
We began with warm rosemary focaccia and olive oil, a simple gesture that promised good things ahead. The entrée course brought a charcuterie board of Wagyu bresaola, prosciutto, Paesanello salami, guindilla and grissini, alongside a handmade burrata finished with romesco, heirloom tomato and black olive oil, and crisp prawns dressed in XO aioli, baby leaves and fried onion. For mains, sweet potato ravioli with provolone, zucchini cream, crispy artichoke and black garlic sat beside a 400g, 100 day grain fed Black Angus T-bone, cooked to a flawless medium and carrying the kind of char that only comes from real experience in the kitchen. Dessert arrived as a Marcel pavlova, layered with pastry crème, Biscoff crumbs, passionfruit and pear, a genuinely memorable finish to a genuinely memorable meal, light enough to close the evening without weighing it down.
Breakfast the next morning offered the same generosity of choice, from an à la carte spread to a full buffet, with coffee arriving either by request or self served from the Nespresso Aguila 220. For lunch, the grand staircase leads down into Tori Café, a bright and easy space equally at home hosting a relaxed corporate lunch or a family before a day of exploring the precinct, its food quality and selection matching the high standard set throughout the rest of the hotel. Late night cravings and lazy in-room breakfasts are handled just as gracefully through the tablet ordered room service menu, a small convenience that quickly reveals itself as one of the more quietly luxurious touches of the stay.
Location
Positioned beside the Penrith Panthers Rugby League Club and the Nepean River, the hotel places its guests within easy reach of an unusually rich stretch of Western Sydney. A short walk brings you to indoor skydiving, aqua golf, riverside cafés and the wider Panthers Precinct, each offering its own reason to extend the stay by another day. They were generous with local knowledge too, happy to point us toward the best of Penrith's dining and entertainment and to suggest small detours we would otherwise have missed, and it is this kind of attentiveness, present in every interaction from arrival to departure, that transforms a good stay into a memorable one.
Watching the Game
Arriving at CommBank Stadium, home ground of the Penrith Panthers, there is an unmistakable charge in the air, a sense of local pride carried at full volume. Fireworks lit the grounds as the crowd's cheering rolled through the stands, building into something closer to a heartbeat than a noise, and beneath a steady downpour the teams emerged for battle with a spirit that bordered on ceremonial. There is something deeply stirring about a home crowd this devoted, the kind of collective energy that turns strangers into temporary comrades for the length of eighty minutes.
Our seats in the corporate box sat right on the halfway line, close enough that every tackle and every goal landed with full impact, the food and drink flowing generously throughout as the game unfolded below. The Panthers and the Broncos matched each other blow for blow, the contest swinging until the very final minute, neither side willing to concede an inch of ground.
