Since 1990 UMW Toyota Motor has without exception brought to our shores the Toyota Classics series annually. Like the previous 28 years, yesterday night has gathered us in this grand venue to appreciate fine classical music.
Toyota’s very own Classical music performance, the Toyota Classics concert presented the Orchestra of The Age of Enlightenment to the full-packed audiences yesterday 13 November 2018 at Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS, KLCC. The concert aimed to raise funds for a socio economic program involving Orang Asli community and research on renewable energy efficiency by two top Universities in Malaysia.
The Orchestra of The Age of Enlightenment is a period instrument orchestra named after the age in European history known as The Enlightenment, an era spanning the late seventeenth, eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. It is a world-famous Orchestra from London, marking their Asian debut at Toyota Classics.
The Toyota Classics this year focus on bringing the joy of music with the theme, “Music that Moves Lives.” Aligned with Toyota’s global vision of providing mobility for all, the said concert supports the ‘Start Your Impossible’ campaign, aiming to inspire people to strive for their dreams and make their impossible happen.
The orchestra was performed under the baton of conductor Steven Devine who has delighted the audience with a programme of baroque music masterpieces. Some of the famous composition by the Orchestra yesterday are Handel's Water Music, Bach's Concerto for Two Violins in D Minor and Mozart's Symphony No. 25. Excerpts from the opera Rinaldo and the oratorio Messiah by Handel, as well as the Winter concerto from Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, also included.
