Inspired by Ralph Lauren's longtime passion for the beauty of the automobile, Ralph Lauren Home is pleased to introduce the Modern Driver Collection for Fall 2024 during Milan Design Week. The new lifestyle collection, a timeless expression of authenticity and modern design, is presented at Ralph Lauren's elegant palazzo located in the heart of Milan. Shown on the first floor of Palazzo Ralph Lauren, Modern Driver transports guests to a sophisticated, cosmopolitan setting. The clean lines of modern furnishings are surrounded by rich mahogany paneling and fine charcoal wool covered walls creating an urban, yet inviting, interior.

As one of the most renowned car collectors in the world, Ralph Lauren has an extensive collection including some of the most exquisite automobiles ever assembled. Curated for its speed, style and beauty, the collection features masterpieces like the 1938 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic Coupe, the 1929 Blower Bentley, and the 1955 Mercedes Benz 300 SL Gullwing Coupe. Each model has personal meaning as a revered art object and source of inspiration for his design philosophy. Modern Driver's sleek, sculptural furnishings in handsome materials such as burl and mahogany wood, polished stainless steel, and carbon fiber pair with impeccable detailing of louvered mahogany and channeled leather to honor the style and elegance of automotive design.

The fall collection presents a new era for the iconic RL-CF1 chair that sits at the heart of the collection and draws inspiration from Lauren's own McLaren F1 Race Car. Introduced in 2003 as a hallmark of innovation and groundbreaking technology in home design, the RL-CF1 chair features the same high-tech fiber that shapes Formula 1 race cars with 71 layers of tissue carbon laid by hand to form a dramatic cantilevered frame that is lightweight yet incredibly strong. The inventive use of carbon fiber is also reflected in the RL-CF1 Dining Chair, featuring the same sumptuous, burnished saddle leather upholstery as the Lounge Chair, and the new Carbon Fiber Side Tables offered in a square and round silhouette with rosewood shelves. The new Turner Nesting Tables recall automotive design with louvered mahogany and polished stainless-steel trim with nailhead detail. Modern Driver's upholstery furnishings are complemented by luxurious wools, suedes and leathers, including the Durham Chaise covered in a charcoal Italian wool with leather piping and buckle hardware reminiscent of the iconic Ricky bag and the classic Hudson Street Lounge Chair featuring a menswear-inspired chalk stripe.

I’ve always been inspired by things built for a purpose. The cars I’ve collected over the years have a kind of functional beauty. Most of them were hand-built and designed for speed. Every detail was meticulously considered and crafted. My ideas come from my life, my work, from everyday living. Cars have always been part of that.

Handsome lighting in modern silhouettes is rendered in refined materials and finishes such as polished nickel, natural brass, and glass, while also recalling automotive design details. The classic Beckford Table Lamp is introduced in a tightly wrapped metal wire mesh inspired by the grilles of Mr. Lauren's 1929 Blower Bentley. New designs include the Langton Table Lamp and Waring Table Lamp, both drawing inspiration from automotive engineering.

Decorative accessories and entertaining pieces add elegant details from the new porcelain and platinum Hewitt Dinnerware with its diamond cut, knurling design and the patterned Carbon Fiber Dinnerware paired with a speedometer-inspired plate, to the black leather and stainless steel 888 Coaster Set and the glamorous 888 Mahjong Set outfitted with a black leather and polished stainless steel case holding hand-painted leather tiles.

Tailored bed linens and accessories with menswear inspired patterns and a rich palette of chocolate, charcoal and black bring Modern Driver's sophisticated vision to life. The charcoal gray Blakeley Duvet and Standard Shams featuring a men's suiting inspired windowpane pattern and subtle herringbone, pair with the black cashmere Ellerston European Sham and Bed Blanket woven in Italy and shirting-inspired black and white striped linens from the Heritage Icons bedding collection. Accessories add opulence, each offered in hues of black and chocolate, including the Thomson Shearling Throw Pillow and Blanket, the Pierce Throw Pillow inspired by the interior of automobiles with its perforated leather and RL zipper pulls in silver nickel, and the leather Bryson Throw Pillow featuring a stacked RL monogram.

A modern expression of an iconic sensibility rooted in automotive design brings the cinematic vision of Ralph Lauren to life this fall season. With Modern Driver's strong connection to Italian craftsmanship, Ralph Lauren continues its distinctive presence during Milan Design Week with its invitation to experience the transporting World of Ralph Lauren. Modern Driver is the first collection to debut under the new strategic collaboration between Ralph Lauren and Haworth Lifestyle Design, a recognized leader in design, manufacturing, and distribution of luxury furnishings.
