Money can get you any luxury car. But elegance and class are reserved for a select few. Arguably the classiest of all supercars, Aston Martin is the embodiment of elegance. Sit behind the wheel of one and you will instantly become polished. There is a reason James Bond's car is often an Aston Martin: the DBS in “Casino Royale,” the DB10 in “Spectre”, as well as the newest James Bond movie, “No Time to Die”, pays tribute to two Aston Martin cars from the past: the DB5 and the V8 Saloon. Like agent 007, Aston Martin represents a level of elusive sophistication that many only fantasize about. It can be understood that upon watching Bond films, men are inspired to drive in style. There is a certain aura to it in creating an everlasting impression.

On Saturday 28 October, Gentleman’s Code (GC) gathered twenty or so of its friends at Aston Martin Kuala Lumpur showroom, for its inaugural GC x Aston Martin event. The timing of the event also commemorates Aston Martin's 110th anniversary this year, as well as the 75th anniversary of the David Brown (DB) lineage. Some of Malaysia’s best-dressed men — including Y.M. Tengku Dato’ Yusof, Wak Doyok, Hann Khalil — were there, along with Aston Martin Malaysia General Manager Mr. Kumara Sooriar Sivanasan and GC Co-Founder Bon Zainal.

As GC friends devoured delicious brunch, was the introduction of Aston Martin DB12, which Aston Martin claims offers the best mix of grand tourer and supercar. The driver is at the focus of the design, which combines modern conveniences with high-end materials and workmanship. Design aside, the car is incredibly masculine, powered by a 4.0 Twin-Turbo V8 engine in classic DB fashion, capable of producing 671bhp at 6,000 rpm and 800Nm of torque between 2,750 and 6,000 rpm. With a peak speed of 325km/h, it accelerates from 0 to 97 km/h in just 3.5 seconds. By the end of the car’s introduction, we were told that a booking was made by one of GC friends for one unit of Aston Martin DB12. Hurrah!

Afterwards, the program continues with a test drive of Aston Martin DBX707 for GC friends to discover the world’s most powerful luxury SUV. The test drive took place at the heart of Kuala Lumpur, where true engineering mastery and dynamic performance of DBX707 were demonstrated. As we wrapped up the event, we concluded that driving an Aston Martin is all about the experience it embodies. It is the symbol of a lifestyle and a vehicle designed for the elegant soul with a passion for craftmanship. All part of a bigger picture, GC aims to continue to embody these traits that are close to our heart. Delightful feelings and imaginations prevailed, of course — we are looking forward for the next gathering between GC and Aston Martin in the future.
