Upholding noble values in the face of modern narratives

A reader question the negative portrayal of the "old money" values by the modern medias and filmmakers, and explain his reason why these values are the ethos of enduring class. GC believe in the importance of honoring the traditions and values that have been passed down through generations, and GC will continue to showcase and celebrate the true essence of gentlemanly class.

Question from Mr. D:

Dear GC,

Greetings! My name is D, and I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for GC, the only platform in our region which I believe upholds and promotes the culture of manly class. Your commitment to refining and celebrating the essence of gentlemanly excellence is admirable, and it is greatly appreciated by those of us who value such ideals.

However, I have observed a concerning trend in local medias and filmmaking, where efforts seem to be made to tarnish the reputation of multi-generational families, like for example Megah Holdings TV drama or the inception of "Kluster Kayangan". These narratives often attempt to portray such families in a negative light, overshadowing their true significance.

The fate of humanity, in many ways, hinges on the continuous refinement of virtues and values, generation after generation. Throughout history, the truth is that it has always been the noble families, like The Wayne Family in Gotham or The Medicis in Florence, who have stood as the bastions of man's pursuit of excellence. Their enduring legacies are a product of a deeply ingrained commitment to honor, duty, and the betterment of society.

It is my belief that this negative narrative may be driven by the envy of the nouveau riche film directors/ Editor in Chief / Influencers or people who lacking pedigree and heritage who, despite their financial success, cannot occupy the same level of prestige that comes with being part of an old money families. These families embody a form of excellence that transcends material wealth—a heritage of character, education, and responsibility that cannot be replicated overnight, regardless whether they are bestowed by many awards or amassed millions of followers on Instagram.

I sincerely hope that GC will continue to champion these values, offering a counterbalance to the misrepresentations that seek to diminish the importance of multi-generational values in our society. Your platform has the unique ability to remind us all of the vital role these families play in the ongoing refinement of humanity.

Thank you once again for your dedication to promoting the culture of manly class. I look forward to seeing how GC will continue to lead in this essential endeavor.

Answer by The Gentleman:

Thank you for your thoughtful message and for sharing your insights. It is truly heartening to hear from a reader who deeply values the culture of manly class and excellence that GC strives to uphold. Your appreciation reinforces our commitment to the ideals that have long been the foundation of true gentlemanly conduct.

You bring up a profound point about the portrayal of multi-generational families in local media and filmmaking. Indeed, the trend of tarnishing their reputations is concerning. These families, as you rightly noted, have historically been the custodians of refinement and the pursuit of excellence. They carry with them a legacy that goes beyond mere material success; it is a legacy of character and a commitment to the betterment of society.

At GC, we firmly believe that the essence of humanity lies in our ability to choose wisely in our limited time on earth. In many ways, man are all elitist when they do the choosing, seeking out the best in occupation, education, medical treatment and relationships. Yet, when it comes to being chosen, there is a desire for equal opportunity, a natural tension that plays out in society’s dynamics. This contrast perhaps fuels some of the narratives that seek to challenge the prestige of old-money families, as those who find themselves on the outside looking in may seek to level the playing field by diminishing what they cannot easily attain.

The nouveau riche, with their newfound wealth and influence, may amass followers and accolades, but as you pointed out, they often lack the heritage that instills a deeper sense of purpose and identity. The prestige that comes from generations or lineage of refinement cannot be replicated overnight, and it is this truth that we aim to highlight and celebrate through our platform.

Rest assured, GC will continue to stand as a beacon for these values. We are committed to promoting the culture of manly class and providing a counterbalance to the misrepresentations you have observed. Your support strengthens our resolve to lead this essential endeavor, reminding society of the enduring importance of noble legacies.

Thank you once again for your kind words and for being a part of our community. We look forward to continuing this journey together.

Best regards,

The Gentleman
