Letter from Mr. Sim.

Dear GC,

I think you have a lovely site but i wish to highlight if you can also include something for the passing of Jimmy Carter?

I think in Christianity, when there is a passing of someone, we need to be well dressed and also I think the architecture of churches and choirs resonate a lot with GC in terms of it being classy and sophisticated. I think Christians culture especially when they go to churches would be an ideal observation to be a well dressed gentleman. I watched President Jimmy Carter funeral and can't help but think that this should be also covered in GC articles because this is a death of a US president and the big funeral like this doesn't happen often unless a big name has passed and the way it is orchestrated is well planned, structured etc. also, there were former US presidents and current US presidents attending the event which makes the event even more sophisticated.

Just my opinion. Thank you.

Answer by The Gentleman:

Hi Mr. Sim,

Thank you for your thoughtful message and for being a valued member of the Gentleman's Code community. Your suggestion regarding coverage of President Jimmy Carter's funeral resonates deeply with us.

You make excellent observations about the intersection of formal attire, dignified occasions, and Christian traditions – particularly how they embody the principles of sophistication and refinement that GC champions. The solemnity of state funerals, with their careful attention to protocol and presentation, indeed exemplifies many aspects of gentlemanly conduct we aim to advocate.

President Joe Biden, former Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama, President-elect Donald Trump, and Vice President Kamala Harris react as the casket of former President Jimmy Carter is carried away, on the day of his State Funeral, at the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, on Jan. 9, 2025.

We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Moving forward, we will thoughtfully consider expanding our coverage to include significant ceremonial events like state funerals, which offer valuable insights into formal dress codes and proper etiquette at momentous occasions. Given that half our readership is based in the United States, this type of content would likely resonate with many of our readers.

Thank you for helping us grow and better serve our community. Your polite engagement with GC helps shape our editorial direction.

Stay classy,

The Gentleman
