Exploring gentlemanly games

A reader suggest GC to include classic gentleman's games like roulette and blackjack, with their aristocratic origins and demand for strategy and boldness, should be featured alongside chess as essential elements of the gentleman's lifestyle.

In a world of high stakes and timeless elegance, Tom Claeren and Victoria Bonya epitomize the allure of sophistication. Dressed in black-tie attire, they command the casino floor, exuding confidence as they embody the essence of the modern power couple.

Question from Mr. Kelvin:

Dear Gents,

Just a minor suggestion from me, may I know why don't you feature other gentlemanly games like chess roulette, blackjack etc? I think these are common games that are often associated with a gentleman because they require a lot of tactical grit and strategy. Blackjack requires you to be bold and brave.

Also, based on my observation these games originated from the aristocratic society and they often enjoyed in lavish casinos where you need to be dressed like James Bond to play them. But I don't see anything about this on your site. Perhaps, to include one next time?

Answer by The Gentleman:

Dear Mr. Kelvin,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your suggestion to feature games like roulette and blackjack as part of a gentleman’s lifestyle on GC. We appreciate your thoughtful input, and your point about the tactical grit and strategy involved in these games resonates with us, especially given their deep roots in aristocratic tradition and the classic association with elegant, well-dressed players, reminiscent of a James Bond casino scene.

We will certainly consider incorporating content on these games in the future, as we continue to explore various aspects of gentlemanly pursuits.

In the meantime, we have already featured chess as a distinguished and intellectual game that aligns with the values of respect and decorum. Chess has long been revered for its strategic depth, requiring not only intellect but also the patience and dignity expected from a true gentleman. You can read the article here: Chess: A Gentleman’s Game.

Once again, thank you for your valuable feedback. We always welcome suggestions from our readers, as they help us curate content that aligns with the interests of the gentlemanly community.

With gratitude and respect,

The Gentleman
